Point Pleasant Beach Sea Glass: Mermaid Treasures Galore!

Point Pleasant beach has it all! Sandy beaches, sunshine, salt water taffy and (most importantly) sea glass! Who could ask for more? Bonus points for the the mile long family friendly boardwalk and Jenkinson's Aquarium. Read on to see what treasures I found including what you need to know before your visit!

All About the Beach

Ahh...Point Pleasant Beach on the famous Jersey Shore! I've visited several East Coast beaches from Portland Maine to Delaware, and Point Pleasant is one of my favorites. The swaying sea grasses and wooden beach fences led the way (we don't have these on the west coast!). We parked on Ocean Avenue (Point Pleasant's main road) and accessed the beach at the entrance across from the Dunes Motel. Parking in the off-season is easy. However, be prepared for a bit of a walk after parking during the busy Summer season.

The extremely clean beach is a combination of pebbles and soft sand. Great surf, wonderful sand, very clean and well managed.

Access to this beach is monitored at all entrance points in-season. Daily, weekend, weekly and seasonal beach badges can be purchased at these entrances.

Where Do You Find Sea Glass

We found most of our smaller pieces of sea glass literally tumbling in the small waves right here in the photo below (during low tide). There were a few of us gathered at this one spot for about 30 minutes just picking up the pieces as they rolled in. The other sea glassers were super friendly and we passed the time chatting about our fav finds. You can find sea glass, a variety of shells & driftwood along Point Pleasant's beaches.

Entertainment for All!

Loaded with a variety of fun games, amusement rides, mini golf, and food choices, Point Pleasant Beach is one of the more family-friendly shore locations.

After a long day of doing the 'sea glass stoop', kick back and relax at Martell's Tiki Bar with a beverage and meal right on the beach or the Tiki Bar pier (both with by waitress service). You will LOVE this place!

If you are looking for the perfect end to a fintastic day, I always enjoy a bit of dry treasure hunting. There are several excellent antique shops on Arnold and Trenton Avenues to hunt for hidden treasures as well as the Point Pavilion Antique Center with over 40 dealers under one roof.

What You Need to Know

Must purchase a beach badge in-season (daily rates, weekdays & weekend badges available).
Restrooms located on boardwalk.
Fresh water rinse off showers at the beach entrances.
Bathhouse (fee) with individual showers & changing stations located on boardwalk.
Parking: Metered and private pay lots.
Lifeguards on duty in-season from 9 am to 5 pm.
Dogs permitted on the beach during the off-season (October 1st - April 30th). All dogs must be on a leash.
Fun filled mile long Boardwalk.
Food: My oh my! Fill up on traditional boardwalk food including pizza and fried Oreos or enjoy casual or fine dining restaurants along Ocean Avenue.
Lots of shopping on the boardwalk. Antique shops on Arnold and Trenton Avenues.

Getting to Point Pleasant Beach
